Alan L. Claar, 74, of Claysburg, passed away Monday November 3, 2025, at home. He was born May 9, 1951, in Roaring Spring, son of the late Ethamore and Mary (Feather) Claar. He married Kathy Smith on September 15, 1984, in Claysburg.
Surviving is his wife, daughters Brittany Svitana and husband Sean, and Bethany Claar, grandchildren Amelia and Eli, a sister Elaine Smith and husband John and his feline friends “George” and “Bebe”.
Alan was a 1969 graduate of Claysburg-Kimmel High School and a graduate of Penn State University. He retired as parts manager at New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company after many years of service.
Alan was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church, Claysburg, where he served for many years on the church council. He was a member of Iron Masters Country Club for over 50 years and served on the board. He was also a board member of the Claysburg Union Cemetery Association
Alan enjoyed playing golf and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Friends will be received from 4-7 P.M. on Thursday November 6, 2025, at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at Christ Lutheran Church, Claysburg, with Pastor Gary Blankley officiating. Interment at Claysburg Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Claysburg Food Bank, P.O. Box 167, Claysburg, PA 16625.
