Arlene Summers, 81, a resident of Carrington Place at Botetourt Commons, Daleville, VA, formerly of East Freedom, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday March 21, 2023 at the home. She was born February 7, 1942 in East Freedom, daughter of the late Roy and Mildred (Hollopeter) Eckard. She married Ralph G. Summers on July 30, 1960 in Oakland, MD. He preceded her in death on March 24, 2021.
Surviving is a daughter Tammy Donivan of Roanoke, VA, 3 sons Ralph H. (Lena) of Huntington, Stephen (Nicole) of the Netherlands, and Jonathan (Kiera) of Kittaning, 7 grandchildren Dennis, Elizabeth, Benjamin, Evalyn, Annette, Sarah and Sierra, 3 great grandchildren Brooklyn, Carson and Aiden, twin sister Darlene Miller, and sisters Maggie Perry and Linda Eckard. She was preceded in death by an infant brother George, brothers Fred and Jim, and son-in-law Douglas Donivan.
Arlene was a member of Dry Run Independent Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. She was a homemaker and served as secretary at Foot of Ten Independent Baptist Church and as a bookkeeper at Long’s Furniture.
Arlene enjoyed sewing, canning and taking pictures of flowers and birds.
Friends will be received at the Dry Run independent Baptist Church, 633 Valley Forge Road, Duncansville, PA 16635 on Tuesday March 28, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. until the 11:30 funeral service, Pastor John Leatherman officiating. Interment at Dry Run Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Beacon of Truth Baptist Ministries/Scripture Assembly at her church.
