Barbara A. Stoops

Barbara A. Stoops, 80. of Osterburg, formerly of Thompsontown, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Monday October 3, 2022. She was born on August 5, 1942 in Altoona, daughter of the late Wilmer and Ruth (Mountain) Wertz. She married Joseph D. Stoops and he preceded her in death on August 30, 2022.

Surviving is a daughter Penny and husband Pastor Keith Showalter of Everett, a son Ronald Wysong of New Jersey, two granddaughters Kaitlynn and husband Rev. Kasey Horvath and Taylor and husband Dr. Maxwell Newby, four great grandchildren Asher, Callen, Laila and Lexi Horvath, three brothers Raymond, Jerry and Randy Wertz and a sister Connie Cover. She was preceded in death by a great grandson Judah and a brother Wilmer B. Wertz. 

Barbara was a member of Free Spring Church of the Brethren, Mifflintown. She was a 1960 graduate of Altoona High School and was employed as a waitress and cleaned homes for various families in the area, throughout her lifetime.

Barbara was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Lewistown Hospice. She enjoyed drawing and painting and spending time with her granddaughters.

Friends will be received from 2 - 4:30 P.M. on Friday October 7, 2022 at the Claysburg Bible Church, 11751 William Penn Road, Imler, PA 16655. Funeral services will be held on Friday October 7, 2022, following the visitation, with Pastor Keith Showalter officiating. Interment at Everett Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Claysburg Bible Church.
