Betty L. Burket, 90, of East Freedom, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at home. She was born July 4, 1934, in Saxton, daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Mary Elizabeth (Glass) Roub. She married David C. Burket Sr. on June 28, 1952 in Fredericksburg.
Surviving is her husband, sons Frank (Lorraine) and John (Kay) Burket, daughter in law Kathy Burket, six grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren, two sisters: Pauline “Polly” Butts and Donna Clark.
She was preceded in death by son David C. Burket Jr., and brothers infant Kenneth, Carl “Cub”, Allan, Gerald, and Glenn Roub; and sisters: Dorothy Kelly and Hazel Wright.
Betty was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Claysburg. She attended Morrisons Cove High School. She was a homemaker and full partner in the development and success of Burket Falls Farm.
Betty enjoyed the outdoors and started skiing in her fifties. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was the camp cook for the Burket Hunting Gang, was the community mother, feeding and caring for the area kids and was the Matriarch of the Burket family.
Friends will be received from 5-8 P.M. on Monday February 24, 2025 at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday February 25, 2025 at the Grace United Church of Christ, Claysburg with Pastor Wendy Farber officiating. Interment at Claysburg Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to Grace United Church of Christ, 526 Bedford Street, Claysburg, PA 16625.
