Carl Feather Arrangement

Carl R. Feather, 85, of Cessna, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, quiet strength, and a life lived in service to others.

Born on October 31, 1939, in King, Pa., Carl was the son of the late Charles D. and Pearl K. (Manges) Feather. On March 7, 1959, he married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Doris Way, in Winchester, Va. This past spring, they celebrated 66 years of joyful, devoted marriage—years filled with laughter, faith and family.

Carl was a kind, fair and gentle man whose steady presence was a source of strength to all who knew him. He was a devoted husband, a role model of a father, a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and a wise, compassionate guide to his family. His children and grandchildren remember him as a constant—generous, hardworking, loving and always ready to lend a hand or offer a word of quiet encouragement. He led by example and gave the gift of music, integrity and unwavering love.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Doris; daughters Jodie Gazda (David) of Harmony, Tonya Miller (Doug) of Bedford, Felicity Clancy (Dan) of Falls Church, Va.; son, Eric Feather (Tracy Mignot) of King; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Eleanor Rice-Shallop and Dorothy Miller. He was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Charles Lee, and Robert Feather, and two sisters, Mary Claar-Cameron and Betty Horner.

A 1957 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School, Carl went on to build a meaningful career—and community—as the owner and operator of Carl Feather Homes for over 50 years, as well as Arrowhead Acres Senior Community. His honesty, fairness and compassion defined not just his business, but also his life. He was known for helping others in times of need, whether it meant answering late-night service calls when pipes froze or quietly assisting someone who had fallen on hard times.

Carl was a longtime member of St. John’s Reformed Church, where he served as a deacon and consistory member, and sang in the choir. Music was woven into the fabric of his life—he especially loved hearing his children sing hymns together. For many years, he and Doris brought people together by hosting backyard talent shows that drew family, friends and community members for nights of song, laughter and connection.

He was a member of the Pennsylvania Manufactured Housing Association, the Masonic Lodge, and the Bedford Lions Club. A true community man, he was admired for his quiet leadership and steady hand.

Carl loved to travel and delighted in sharing the road with his family—and often their friends—on memorable RV adventures across the country. At home, his dry wit and loving eye-rolls at Doris’s book of jokes became part of the family lore that will be passed down for generations.

He golfed with friends at Down River Golf Course, enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, and found joy in being surrounded by those he loved most.

Carl will be deeply missed by his family, friends, neighbors and all who were lucky enough to know him. The world is a better place for having had him in it—and a little dimmer without his light.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Claysburg Bible Church, 11751 William Penn Road, Imler, Pa. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 12 noon.

Interment will follow at St. Mark’s Cemetery, King, Pa.
