Carol A. Claar, 74, of Claysburg, passed away unexpectedly, on Wednesday January 29, 2025 at home. She was born November 24, 1950, in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late David Merle and Helen (Musselman) Deffibaugh. She married Philip D. Claar on August 31, 1990 in Cumberland, MD.
Surviving is her husband, a son Harry Benton IV and wife Trish, 2 granddaughters Terissa and Taylor, 3 great grandchildren Dominic, Grayson and Baylee, a sister Mary Lou Claycomb (Troy) and a brother David Lee Deffibaugh (Connie). She was preceded in death by her son Kevin W. Benton and brothers Dennis and John Deffibaugh.
Carol was a member of the Upper Claar Church of the Brethren. She was a 1968 graduate of Claysburg-Kimmel High School and was employed over the years at Cove Shoe, Sam Weyant Farms and Exact Level.
Carol enjoyed working in her yard, going on long walks, hunting, fishing, and spending time at the hunting camp in Potter County.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. on Saturday February 1, 2025 at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday February 2, 2025 at the Upper Claar Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Mark Wyland officiating. Interment at Lower Claar Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
