Charles “Dean” Lightner, 83 of Claysburg, passed away Thursday November 21, 2024 at Maple Heights Health and Rehab Center, Ebensburg. He was born November 15, 1941, in Roaring Spring, son of the late Charles H. Lightner and Edna Marie (Feathers) Lightner-Bridges. He married Kay Dodson on May 15, 1964 in Claysburg.
Surviving is his wife, a son David Lightner and wife Tracy, 4 grandchildren Chelsey Lightner, Andrew Lightner, and wife Mariah, Alan Lightner and Kyle Lightner, 3 great grandchildren Elias, Payton and Jace, and 2 brothers William and Paul Lightner.
Dean was a 1959 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 until 1963 and then served in the PA National Guard for 28 years.
He retired in 1998 from Champion Homes, Claysburg
Dean was a member of the Claysburg Church of the Brethren and played trumpet in the Brethren Brass Band and the Blair County Honor Guard. He enjoyed hunting, music and working outdoors.
Friends will be received Monday November 25, 2024 from noon until the 1:00 P.M. funeral service at the Claysburg Church of the Brethren, 577 Bedford Street, Claysburg, PA 16625, with Pastor Matt Plott officiating. Interment at Upper Claar Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to his churches memorial fund.
