D. Ronald “Happy” Long, 72, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Saxton and Roaring Spring, checked out July 5, 2026, at 2:31 A.M. He was born December 21, 1953, in Roaring Spring, son of the late David R. and E. Grace (Isenberg) Long. On November 3, 1973, he married Deborah Brennan in Martinsburg.
Surviving is his wife, Deb, a son D.R. Long II, and three grandchildren Noah, Chloe and Natalie. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Dr. Harold Long DMD.
Ron was a 1971 graduate of Central High School and a 1973 graduate of Penn State-Altoona, with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a 1978 graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and owned and operated D. Ronald Long Funeral Chapel in Saxton for 17 years before retiring in 2004.
Ron was a member of Trinity U.C.C., Saxton, Bedford Lodge F&AM, Jaffa Shrine, Tussey Mountain Jaycees, Broad Top, Saxton, Hopewell and Trough Creek Sportsman’s Clubs, Iron Master C.C., Bedford Elks, and served on the board of Nason Hospital.
Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing, but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandkids.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday July 26, 2026, at the R.W. & BT. Fire Company, 6340 New Grenada Hwy, Robertsdale, PA 16674, at 12:30 PM with a meal served at 1:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to your local Fire Company or Ambulance Association.
