Donald “Randy” Hengst, 78, of Roaring Spring, passed away Thursday July 11, 2024 at Presbyterian Senior Living, Hollidaysburg.
He was born September 17, 1945, in Altoona, son of the late Donald E. Hengst and Kathleen (Diehl) Hengst-Claar. He married his high school sweetheart, Wilma Decker, May 21, 1965 at the Lower Claar Church of the Brethren.
Surviving is his wife of Roaring Spring and a son Donald E. Hengst and wife Lori of East Freedom. He was preceded in death by a sister Janet Claycomb.
Randy was a 1963 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School. He retired in 2000, as a UPS driver after 32 years of service. After retiring he drove school bus for the Spring Cove School District for 16 years. He was a member of the Clover Creek Church of the Brethren.
Randy enjoyed fishing with his buddies, deer hunting and going to NASCAR races. Over his lifetime he had 10 dachshunds, with his favorites being “Max” and “Mina”.
Friends will be received from 11 A.M until the 1:00 P.M. memorial service on Saturday July 20, 2024 at the Clover Creek Church of the Brethren, 218 Rebecca Furnace Rd. Martinsburg, PA 16622, with Pastors Dave Crumrine and Barbara Hammond officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Mending Hearts Animal Rescue, 4771 E. Loop Rd. Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
