Dorothy L. Black, 85, of Claysburg, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday May 28, 2021. She was born December 12, 1935 in Greenfield Township. Daughter of the late Lawrence and Lena (Herman) Weyandt. She married John E. Black in March of 1956 in Winchester, VA.
Surviving is her husband, a daughter Cherie Steele and husband Larry of Martinsburg, a son Michael Black and wife Debi of Claysburg, two grandsons Tyler and Blake both in Pittsburgh and a sister Thelma Dively of Claysburg. She was preceded in death by a sister Pauline Harbaugh and a brother Kenneth “Bink” Weyandt.
Dorothy was a member of the Claysburg Church of God. She was a 1954 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School and retired as an assembler from Veeder-Root after more than 40 years of service.
Dorothy enjoyed gardening and flowers.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing and services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment at Alto-Reste Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Hillman Cancer Center or the Claysburg Church of God.
