Elsie M. (Feathers) Dively Gonsman, 88, of Claysburg, passed away Tuesday April, 22, 2025 at home following a brief illness. She was born August 3, 1936 in Pavia, daughter of the late Samuel and Ellen (Imler) Feathers. She was twice married, first to Lester Leroy Dively, who passed away June 13, 1985 and then on November 20, 1989, she married John Adam Gonsman, who passed away January 16, 2021.
She is survived by 2 daughters Ellen Bender (Rick) of Alum Bank and Lora Banks (Gene) of Altoona, 5 granddaughters Angie Lucciola (Todd) of Myrtle Beach SC, Bobbi Bender of Claysburg, Caryn Bollman (Carey) of Osterburg, Kylee Banks of Altoona and Kenya Dennis (Mike) of Leesville, LA, 16 great grandchildren, 3 sisters Dorene Rouzer of Wayneburg, Ruby Claar of Queen, and Sylvia Benton of Imler, 3 brothers Wilbur Feathers of Imler, Joseph Feathers of Mt. Union, and Samuel Feathers of Imler and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers John and Charles Park Feathers.
Elsie was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Pavia. She was a 1954 graduate of Bedford High School. She was a graduate of Mt Aloysius College, with a B.S. in Occupational Therapy, and from the Ministry Institute in Greensburg.
Elsie retired from Home Nursing after 19 years and then served as Pastor at the Roaring Spring Mennonite Church for several years. She loved to preach, and enjoyed doing crafts, helping with Bible School, and fishing.
Friends will be received from 11 A.M. until the 2:00 P.M. funeral service on Friday April 25, 2025 at the Mt. Zion Church of Pavia, with Pastor Richard Reed officiating. Interment at Pavia Cemetery.
