Florence "Helene" Ickes

Florence “Helene” Ickes, 86, of Imler, passed away Wednesday February 3, 2021 at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center. She was born October 8, 1934 in Imler, daughter of the late Oscar and Grace (Gochnour) McCreary. She married Earl Ickes on May 17, 1957, in Cumberland, MD.

Surviving are her husband and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters Freda Grasser, Mary Feathers and Dorothy Rexford and a brother Harry “Bud” McCreary.

Helene attended St. Paul’s U.C.C., Imler. She was a homemaker and babysat many children in the area. She also was a maid at Penn Manor Motel, Bedford for several years. 

Helene was a member of the Imler Area Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and was very active at fire hall events. She also enjoyed collecting cardinals.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
