Guy E. Mauro

Guy E. Mauro, 87, of East Freedom, passed away Friday May 23, 2025 at the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center. He was born November 1, 1937, in Altoona, son of the late Gaetano and Luisa (Porzio) Mauro. He married Virginia Mae Barr on May 3, 1958, in Altoona. She passed away April 20, 2024.

Surviving is three sons Guy (Rose), David and Joseph of East Freedom, a daughter Dawn McDannell (Monty) of Claysburg, 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Michael, daughter-in-law Melissa, sisters Rosa and Elsie and a brother John.

Guy was a 1955 graduate of Altoona Area High School and served in the U.S. Marines. He was a member of St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church and was employed at Brumbaugh Body Company for 25 years.

Guy was an avid outdoorsman and loved his dogs. He enjoyed music, especially John Denver, Bob Seger and Jim Croce, doing carpentry work, and spending time with his family.

Guy volunteered at the Hollidaysburg VA Home for several years and participated in blood drives for many years. Guy will be remembered as a loving husband and father.

Friends will be received from 5-8 P.M. on Tuesday May 27, 2025 at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday May 28, 2025 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Duncansville, with Father Jeremy Mohler officiating.
