Helen M. McCoy

Helen M. McCoy, 89, of East Freedom, passed away Sunday September 24, 2023 at home. She was born July 31, 1934 in Altoona, daughter of the late Joseph and Sophia (Lesniewski) Dzielski. She was twice married, first to Elliot C. Booterbaugh, who died May 20, 1967 and then to Harry J. McCoy, who died January 8, 1993.

Surviving is a granddaughter, who was also her caregiver, Jessica, 2 other grandchildren Shawn and Amanda, a great grandson Damien, 3 brothers Joseph, Theodore, and Robert Dzielski, and 2 sisters Louise Capouellez and Dorothy Funyak. She was preceded in death by a daughter Lori Ann Hollern, an infant son, and a step sister Pauline Dzielski.

Helen was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Newry and during her later years, when she was unable to attend church, watched mass on TV. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, Altoona and worked at Publix Shirt Factory in Gallitzin for many years. She also made and sold beautiful ceramics.

Friends will be received from 3-5 P.M. on Friday September 29, 2023 at the Miller Funeral Home, East Freedom. Interment at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
