Jack Burkett Sr. Arrangement

Jack D. Burkett Sr., 82 of Imler, went home to be with the Lord, Friday February 25, 2022 at home. He was born September 27, 1939 in Imler, son of the late Perry P. and Ethel (Harr) Burket. He married Gloria J. Weyandt on November 28, 1957 in Claysburg.

 

 

Surviving is his wife, 4 sons Jack Jr. (Holly), Jonathan (Wendy), David (Cathy) and Aaron (Marci), 2 daughters Holly Hathaway (Jeffrey Sr.) and Denitia Weyant (Jason), son-in-law Craig Burket, 31 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren 2 brothers Donald Harr (Betty) and Jay Burket (Nancy) and a sister Nancy Claycomb (Luther Dodson). He was preceded in death by a daughter Darla J. Burket and a grandson Kai A. Burkett.

 

 

Jack was a 1957 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School. He retired in 2001 as an independent veal farmer, life insurance broker and security agent and was previously employed at Small Tubes Products.

 

 

Jack was a member of the Claysburg Church of God. He was an avid wrestling fan and coached C-K Wrestling for 8 years. In 2014, he was recognized by the Bedford County Hall of Fame for his contributions to wrestling.

 

 

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to the Outer Banks, where he was a lifetime member of the Rodanthe Pier. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and assisting them with farming on the ridge and his Thursday date night with his wife.

 

 

Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. on Tuesday March 1, 2022 at the Claysburg Church of God. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday March 2, 2022 at the church with Pastors Kim Swindell and Terry Bowden officiating. Interment at Burkett Family Cemetery.  

 

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
