Jean R. Wicker, 97, of Altoona, passed away Thursday April 7, 2022 at home. She was born January 2, 1925 in Snake Spring Township, daughter of the late Blair and Thelma (Cogan) Ritchey. She married John R. “Jack” Wicker on July 26, 1952 in Hollidaysburg. He preceded her in death on April 6, 1972.
Surviving are five children, Melissa H. Young of Duncansville, Sue A. Packard of Altoona, Sheri J. Wicker of Altoona, Margaret R. Graham of Alabama and Thomas J. Wicker of Harrisburg, 8 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother William B. Ritchey.
Jean was a 1942 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and graduated from Adele Allen School of Beauty. She retired from Bell Telephone in 1983 after 25 years of service.
Jean served as Past President and Treasurer of the Horseshoe Curve Pioneers and was Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star Delphi #65.
At the request of the deceased there will be no viewing of funeral services. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
