Jerry L. Claar, 81, of Claysburg, passed away Wednesday September 10, 2025 at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center. He was born September 30, 1943, in Queen, son of the late Wilmer and Florence (Eicher) Claar. He married Faye Beegle on November 15, 1962 in Winchester, VA.
Surviving is his wife, daughters Susie Berkey and husband Chris, and their son Joshua, Annette Crawford and husband Terry and their daughters Brandi (Adam) and Marci (Shane), and Jody and Jessica and their families. He is also survived by great grandchildren Jordan, Jenna, Lillian, Levi, Addison, Beau and Nora, sister-in-law Ruby Claar and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Wilmer Jr., and Calvin and ½ sister Florence Woodring.
Jerry was employed for 29 years at Standard Register, in Bedford, until its closing. He then operated an excavation business for 26 years.
Jerry drove the #59 race car for 20 years, winning five track championships, between Jennerstown, Everett and Hesston.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Queen Memorial Church, Claysburg Area Public Library or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
