Larry D. Benton

Larry D. Benton, 78, of Claysburg, passed away on Tuesday January 13, 2026, at home. He was born on July 24, 1947, in Roaring Spring, son of the late Leland H. and Jackie (Wertz) Benton. He married Sharon E. Claar on September 12, 1967, in Cumberland, MD and she passed away on July 15, 2012. 

Surviving is a son Scott Benton (Kathie), grandchildren Brandon and Alexis, sisters Beverly A. Crist (Wayne), Bonita L. College, Cheryl M. Gill, Ora Jo Dicken (Brad), and Carla L. Benton, a brother Donald Benton, brother-in-law Terry Claar (Anita) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry served in the US Army and was a member of the Bedford American Legion. He retired from Cumming Motors in 2006 and was previously employed at the Claysburg Brick Yard.

Larry enjoyed working on cars, scratching lottery tickets and spending time with his family.

Friends will be received Friday January 16, 2026, from 3 P.M. until the 7 P.M. funeral service at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg with Pastor James Neatrour officiating.
