Luther J. Dodson, 85, of East Freedom, passed away Monday October 28, 2024 at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center. He was born January 13, 1939 in Greenfield Township, son of the late Chester and Edna (Burket) Dodson. He married Mary Lou Hengst on November 26, 1958 in King. She passed away September 29, 1997.
Surviving is a son Alan D. Dodson (Mary) of Altoona, a daughter Debbie Scordo (Chris) of Duncansville, 4 grandchildren Alan Dean Dodson (Miranda), Katlyn Ross (Andrew), Nathan Scordo and Lucas Scordo (Allison), 2 great granddaughters Hattie and Norrie Dodson, a sister Connie Hoover of Roaring Spring and a special friend Nancy Claycomb. He was preceded in death by a daughter Beth Ann Mellott and an infant sister, Ella Marie.
Luther was a 1956 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School and served in the U.S. Marines from 1956-1958. He retired from Small Tubes Products in 2001.
Luther enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great granddaughters.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. on Friday November 1, 2024 at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday November 2, 2024 at the Duncansville Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1200 4th Ave., Duncansville, PA 16635, with Pastor Tiffany Marvich officiating. Interment at St. Mark’s Cemetery, King.
