Lynn F. Johnston entered into glory and met his Lord and Savior on Aug 15, 2024 at his home. He was born in Duncansville, PA, son of Paul S. and Dorothy (Wilt) Johnston. He was blessed with 53 years of marriage to Dorothy E. (Hicks) Johnston. They were married on Aug 31, 1963 at Foot-of-Ten Independent Bible Church. She preceded him in death on Jan 6, 2017.
He is survived by his sons Scott L. of Bear, DE, Ritchie B. (Marsha) of East Freedom, Timothy D. (Dana) of Tyrone and daughter-in-law Rhonda L. of East Freedom. He was proceeded in death by son Rusty A. He is survived by nine grandchildren – Andrew (Amber), Zachary, Hannah, Isaac, Blake, Corey, Annelise, Leah, Ethan, and two great-grandchildren, Ada & Jack, and brother Paul S. (Suzanne) of OK.
He was a graduate of Hollidaysburg Area School District in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army with the 18th Construction Engineer Corp. in Ft. Wainright, AK.
Throughout his career, he worked in construction with R.H. Montgomery, served as Allegheny Twp tax collector for 28 years, worked at the Roaring Spring Paper Mill and Consolidated Freightways. He served as the pastor of Puzzletown Road Bible Church for 27 years. Upon retirement, he continued to fill pulpits for various churches in need.
He enjoyed doing carpentry and masonry work, hunting and the beauty of God’s creation. Family get-togethers and Christmas Eve gatherings were the highlight of the year.
Although his father passed away when he was an infant, there were many individuals that had a great impact on his life and cared for his soul. These included his mother, Pastor Glenn Yeckley, Clifford & Della Wilt and June Snyder.
II Corinthians 5:1-2 For we know that if this our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
Friends will be received from 6-8 P.M. on Monday August 19, 2024 and from 10 A.M. until the 11:00 A.M. funeral service on Tuesday August 20, 2024 at the Puzzletown Road Bible Church, 316 Puzzletown Road, Duncansville, PA 16635.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the Missions Fund at Puzzletown Road Bible Church.
