Marvin LeRoy Metzler, joined his heavenly Father and was able to see Jesus face to face at age 85 on January 30, 2024. He was welcomed onto this earth on August 11, 1938, to parents, Ross & Margaret (Blough) Metzler, the second of 12 children. He married the love of his life, Judith Showalter Metzler on Dec 28, 1957 and shared 66 years together.
If you knew Marvin, you know he enjoyed being a farmer, truck driver and a pastor. His life impacted everyone he encountered in daily life. He and Judy’s mission to spread the love of Jesus included trips to Kenya, Honduras, Haiti, Jamaica and Antigua.
Marvin was loved by so many and is remembered for his generous spirit, giving of his time and money. His positive attitude was contagious and continued throughout his battle with cancer, never complaining. He remains a beacon of light that continues to shine.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jay Metzler and sister Reba Jean Metzler. He will be missed by his loving wife, Judy, children Journey Smith, Marvin Metzler Jr and wife Pam, Wendell Metzler and wife Kimberly, Donna Peachey and husband Leon, and Betty Clapper. His grace and compassion has impacted many generations as 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren continue his legacy. Also surviving are brothers Ralph Metzler, Elmer Metzler, Dave Metzler & Jim Metzler, and sisters Avonelle Peachey, Jane Lehman, Ruth Kuhns, Rhoda Yoder, and Shirley Yoder.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Carson Valley Church of the Brethren, 122 Church Rd, Duncansville, PA, February 10, 2024 at 1:00 pm. Live stream will be available at
