Mary Magdalene (Glass) Nycum

Mary Magdalene (Glass) Nycum 85, of Claysburg, went to her heavenly home on Thursday January 9, 2025 at Cornerstone Personal Care Home in Claysburg.

Mary was born April 7, 1939 in the sandbanks of Ore Hill Roaring Spring PA, the daughter of Lester Adam and Sara Elizabeth (Bare) Glass. She married Robert Leroy Nycum in August 1960. He preceded her in death July 11,1993; along with her husband she was preceded in death by a brother, James Glass in 1998; and sister Jean D. Dively in 2023.

Surviving are her three children: Eugene Nycum of Jacksonville Florida, Rhonda Nycum of Jacksonville, Florida, and Sara Scott of Norfolk Virginia; her three sisters: Coralie Ellis of Claysburg, Louella Leedy of East Freedom, and Judy Young of Montandon; a brother, Bradie Glass of East Freedom; 2 grandchildren, and numerous nieces/nephews.

She enjoyed spending time at the Southern Blair Senior Center. Mary also enjoyed the Glass Family Reunion hosted by her niece Susan Miller. She was a positive influence on the younger generations and instilled the importance of family in others lives.

Mary graduated from Morrison Cove High School in 1957. She was a personal care aide for the elderly for many years. Mary attended the Smith Corner Church. She enjoyed playing bingo and reading her Bible.

Friends will be received on Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 1:00 P.M. until the 4:00 P.M. funeral service at the Smith Corner Church, 1955 Johnstown Road, East Freedom, Pa 16637 with Pastor David McClanahan officiating.
