Melody Mae Mentzer, 63, of East Freedom, passed away Wednesday January 19, 2022 at the Altoona Center for Nursing Care. She was born February 11, 1958 in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late Gerald L. and Helen I. (Harr) Miller. She married William L. “Butch” Mentzer on June 17, 1978 in Roaring Spring. He passed away March 12, 2014.
Surviving are two daughters Kelly Knisely and husband Bryan of Sproul and Kristen Shock of Williamsburg, seven grandchildren Amber, Mikhaela, Camden, Zach, Alex, Hunter and Parker, three great grandchildren Joshua, Wendi and Ezra, a brother Stephen Miller of East Freedom and two sisters Dodi R. Krise of Imler and Lori K. Miller of Claysburg.
Melody was a 1976 graduate of Claysburg-Kimmel High School. She retired as an IT technology assistant from the Claysburg Elementary School in August 2021 after 28 years of service.
Melody attended the Claysburg Church of God and enjoyed Altoona Curve baseball, playing Bingo and Rook, attending school sporting events and her dog, “Harley”.
Friends will be received from 1:00 P.M. until the 3:00 P.M. memorial service on Saturday January 22, 2022 at the Claysburg Church of God with Pastor Kim Swindell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family or Mending Hearts Animal Rescue.
