Michael V. Heidler Sr., 74 of Osterburg, passed away Wednesday January 5, 2022. He was born November 10, 1947, in Roaring Spring, son of the late Vernon K. and Bertha E. (Oakes). He married Susan M. Gates and she preceded him in death on February 19, 2015.
Surviving are four daughters Tina Brumbaugh, Michelle Berkheimer (Roger), Tammy Stern (Rick), Missy McCreary (Ron), stepchildren; Andrew Walter, William Dicken, Samantha Dicken, and Nila Dicken, a daughter-in-law Gerri Heidler, 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, a sister Ruth M. (Heidler) Zerby and a niece Beth. He was preceded in death by a son Michael V. Heidler Jr. a grandson Joey Mummert, brother-in-law Robert Zerby Sr. and a nephew Robert Zerby Jr.
Mike attended Greenfield-Kimmel High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Marines and served in Vietnam. He retired in 1985 from construction work in Washington D.C. and was previously employed at the Pennsylvania Railroad, Ironworkers Union in Philadelphia and owned and operated the Thunderbird Motel in Tuscan, AZ.
Mike was a member of the Claysburg American Legion, Roaring Spring V.F.W. and Blair County A.B.A.T.E.
He enjoyed riding his Harley, liked to smoke his smoke and hanging out with his grandkids.
Friends will be received Monday January 10, 2022 from 2 P.M. until the 6:00 P.M. memorial service at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg with Pastor Erik Lingenfelter officiating.
In leu of flowers, contributions may be given to the funeral home.
