Richard Lynn McCarty, 81, of Imler, passed away Thursday February 16, 2023 at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring. He was born February 5, 1942, in Huntingdon, son of the late Donald Earl and Florence Evelyn (Bartlebaugh) McCarty. He married Sharon Mary Acker on September 11, 1965 in Winchester, VA.
Surviving is his wife of Imler, a daughter Tracy Lyn Lightner and husband David of Claysburg, four grandchildren Chelsey Karl (James), Andrew (Mariah), Alan (Samantha) and Kyle Lightner, two great grandchildren Elias and Payton and a sister JoAnne Mauk and husband Harold of East Freedom.
Richard was a 1960 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School and served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force. He retired as a machine operator from Appleton Papers in 2004, after 36 years of service, and was previously employed at Champion Homes, Claysburg.
Richard was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Claysburg. He was a former member of the Claysburg American Legion and played in the band. He enjoyed shooting rifles and making muzzleloaders, leather and bead work, cooking, his cats and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 10 A.M. until the 11:00 A.M. memorial service on Wednesday February 22, 2023 at the Claysburg Church of the Brethren, 577 Bedford Street, Claysburg, PA 16625 with Pastor Ron Bashore officiating.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to the American Heart Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
