Richard I. McIntyre, 77, of Claysburg, passed away Thursday August 7, 2025 at home. he was born August 21, 1947 in Altoona, son of the late Irvin Ralph and Margaret Ethel (Fleagel) McIntyre. On May 1, 1970 at St. Anne Church in Claysburg, he married Patrina M. Weyandt. She preceded him in death on January 24, 2013, He then married Bambi Stucke on July 3, 2021 in Claysburg.
Surviving is his wife, a daughter Michelle A. McIntyre and husband Hugh Humbert, stepson Dennis “DJ” Freeman, brother James McIntyre and wife Kathy and brother-in-law William Stucke.
Richard was a 1965 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and was a member of the National Guard and Seabees. He was a lifetime and Gold Legacy member of VFW Post 7869, Roaring Spring, where he served as Past Commander. He was also a life member of the Vietnam Veterans Association and was chairman of the State Vietnam Veterans Homeless Association.
Richard retired in 2009 as a Sgt. from SCI Cresson. He also served as a Deputy Game Warden and rehabilitated wild animals. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to auctions.
Friends will be received from 2:00 P.M. until the 5:00 P.M. memorial service on Sunday August 10, 2025 at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg, with Steve Brumbaugh and Dustin Feaster officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Roaring Spring Community Library or the VFW Post 7869, Roaring Spring.
