Thomas L. Hetrick, 94, of East Freedom, passed away Saturday March 4, 2023 at Homewood at Martinsburg. He was born September 1, 1928 in Columbus, OH, son of the late John and Mabel (Burket) Hetrick and was raised, from the age of 13, at the farm of Frank and Gladys Burket. He married Esther F. Glass on June 27, 1953 at Grace United Church of Christ, Claysburg. She preceded him in death on November 6, 2005.
Surviving is a son Thomas C. Hetrick and wife Rhelda of East Freedom, a granddaughter Jennifer Smith and husband Michael of Duncansville and two great grandchildren Avery and Addison Smith. He was preceded in death by two sisters Ruth Jean and Mary Ellen Hetrick.
Thomas was a member of the Claysburg Bible Church, He retired from Champion Home Builders, Claysburg in 1993 after more than 30 years of service.
Thomas enjoyed reading his Bible, hunting, watching westerns, playing guitar, collecting arrowheads and spending time with his granddaughter and great grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 4:00 P.M. until the 6:00 P.M. funeral service on Wednesday March 8, 2023 at the Miller Funeral Home, East Freedom, with Pastor Rich Morris officiating. Interment at Upper Claar Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the employees of Fresenius Medical Care, Altoona, for the care they provided for the past 3 years.
