Vernadine M. “Boots” Butler, 84, of East Freedom, passed away Wednesday November 19, 2025, at home. She was born April 26, 1941, in Polecat, daughter of the late Albert M. and Edith (Musselman) Strayer. She married John E. Butler on November 11, 1960, and he preceded her in death on July 21, 2023.
Surviving is a daughter Sandra Devers and husband Ron, grandson Aaron Devers and wife Andreia, great granddaughter Lisa Marie Devers, sister Shirley Musselman and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son Donald Butler, brothers Oliver and Thomas Strayer and a sister Virginia Musselman.
Vernadine was a 1959 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School. She retired from Loungeray in Hollidaysburg in 1981.
Boots was a member of Smith Corner Church and served in the Ladies Aide. She enjoyed crafting, going on day trips, hosting summertime picnics, and spending time with her family.
Friends will be received from 4-7 P.M. on Friday November 21, 2025, at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday November 22, 2025, at the funeral home. Interment at Holsinger Cemetery.
