Former Leslie Funeral Home 1947 - 2005

The Legacy of Carn and Leslie Funeral Home

With a rich history spanning over 110 years, Carn and Leslie Funeral Home has been steadfast in its commitment to serving families with dignity and compassion.

In 1895, Jacob Carn laid the foundation of this esteemed establishment. In 1927, Marvin C. Leslie embarked on his journey with Mr. Carn, commencing his tenure while still in school. By 1947, Marvin C. Leslie had taken the initiative to establish his own funeral home, operating initially from his residence.

Following Jacob Carn's passing, Marvin C. Leslie assumed ownership of both the funeral home and the furniture store. In 1977, Mark Leslie furthered the family tradition by becoming a licensed funeral director. Two years later, in 1979, Marvin Leslie gracefully retired, passing the mantle to his son, Mark Leslie, who assumed ownership of the business.

Marvin Leslie remained actively involved with the funeral home until his passing in 1999. In 2001, the Leslie Funeral Home found a new home in Claysburg, relocating to its current site within the former Central Pennsylvania National Bank building on Bedford Street.

Mark Leslie continued to steward the funeral home until his untimely passing in 2005. In 2006, Harry E. Miller stepped in as the new proprietor, ushering in a new era for the establishment, now recognized as Leslie-Miller Funeral Home.

The Legacy of Miller Funeral Home

With a dedicated history of service spanning over 25 years, Miller Funeral Home stands as a pillar of support for families in their time of need.

In 1998, Harry E. Miller and John E. Smith embarked on a journey of compassion and care, establishing the funeral home at its current location. This marked the beginning of a legacy built upon professionalism and empathy.

Situated within the former Central Bank building, which had ceased operations in 1994, the premises underwent meticulous renovation to meet the evolving needs of grieving families. The transformation included the creation of a spacious visitation room, functional office space, and a serene section room. Additionally, a garage was later incorporated to enhance operational efficiency and accommodate logistical requirements.

As of October 1, 2024 Miller Funeral Home will be serving all families out of our Claysburg Location, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home 810 Bedford Street, Claysburg, PA 16625.

Since its inception, Miller Funeral Home has remained committed to providing solace and support to families during their most challenging moments, embodying a tradition of excellence and compassion that continues to resonate within the community.
